Some time back, this site was hit by the WordPress Pharma Hack. It was a shock to me. There are many unwanted words like “amoxicillin”, “levitra”, “Viagra”, “Cialis”, etc, linking to some online drug stores, in every post. There were two things which I had to do. First, was to find and clear the any codes that caused the hack. And second, was to get all my posts back to the original conditions.
I had searched the web and tried a few suggested methods to clear the unwanted code to cause the WordPress Pharma Hack. So far, I do not have much luck in doing so. All I could do was to update my WordPress and all the plugins to the latest version.
I was much better luck in getting the posts back to the original conditions. I noticed that, in general, the damage caused by the WordPress Pharma Hack was putting unwanted links with those unwanted words in the posts in the form of text. Initially, I thought all I was to do was to edit individual post to remove these texts. Read the rest of this entry »
I hope everyone had a good laugh on the funny video about call center. I am glad that my web hosting, GVO, does not provide such customer support when I contracted GVO. I found some interesting functions which I could not understand. So I e-mailed the technical support and asked for information. Read the rest of this entry »

During my course as a webmaster for various volunteering community, there are a few members who wanted to find out more on maintaining a website. All these websites are running on a Content Management System (CMS). I gladly create administrator accounts for these members. Most of these members were confused on the first sight of the administrator page. They do not know what to do. Some asked for further instructions. Out of these, few went further to the next stage of adding an article or post to the site.
I could understand the confusion, because I went through the same r organization. And they wanted to website to have a CMS engine. Although I have experience in writing webpages using HTML and writing website scripts, that was the first time I came across the term CMS. Read the rest of this entry »

The CD-ROM includes a functional Web site that can be used as a template for getting on-line.
Some years ago, I was approached to be one of the webmasters for a community website. During the first discussion meeting, one requirement for the website was that it must be running on a Content Management System (CMS) engine.
That was the first time I heard of this term, CMS. Luckily, the other webmaster was a well technical knowledgeable in this area. As such, he selected Joomla! as the CMS engine and set it up. Soon, I focused in putting in the content and along the way learnt the rope of using CMS.
From that point onwards, I will put in a CMS of some form for all the websites I managed. I usually put in WordPress if Blog-based site is sufficient or Joomla! for more complex sites.
I just received an e-mail that there is a bonus Chapter for Robert Kiyosaki’s upcoming book,
Robert Kiyosaki will be sharing his vision of a solid financial curriculum in the school system in the additional bonus chapter.
This is a good news for everyone, so that we all have more time to read and re-read the chapters. I encourage everyone to read this book while it is free. If not, it will only be available as hardcopy from September 2009 onwards.
If you like what you read, please post post your comment below or subscribe to my blog via RSS or E-mail on new content.

I have been working of a few community websites. Recently, one of these websites went offline. The reason was the domain was expired. I did not notice it until another person informed me about it.
I quickly dug out the old e-mails, to seek out the passwords and renew this domain. After that, it took another about 24 hours before the domain was live again. This could be a simple thing, but it could be destructive to the site, considering the down time, and the potential number of visitors. Read the rest of this entry »
