GVO Hosting – A Web Hosting for Internet Marketing with Monthly Affiliate Residual Income

Filed Under (Internet Business Resource, Making Money Online) by kimloon on 20-10-2009

GVO Hosting was just launched. It provides a one-stop Internet Marketing Solution for internet marketers. On top of that, it employs a multi-level marketing affiliate program to all its members. Members can earn monthly affiliate residual income from the downlines.

This is not surprised that many top internet marketers, like Ewen Chia, are promoting this hosting plan.

I am currently migrating my websites over to GVO Hosting. I started with a test site on Wordpress. The migration process took me less than an hour, excluding the time taken to transfer data from one server to another. The process could be faster, if I have taken the right steps in the first place.

Getting Started with Joomla! or any Content Management System (CMS)

Filed Under (General) by kimloon on 29-08-2009

During my course as a webmaster for various volunteering community, there are a few members who wanted to find out more on maintaining a website. All these websites are running on a Content Management System (CMS). I gladly create administrator accounts for these members. Most of these members were confused on the first sight of the administrator page. They do not know what to do. Some asked for further instructions. Out of these, few went further to the next stage of adding an article or post to the site.

I could understand the confusion, because I went through the same progress before. Years ago, I was asked to be the webmaster for a volunteer organization. And they wanted to website to have a CMS engine. Although I have experience in writing webpages using HTML and writing website scripts, that was the first time I came across the term CMS.

Content Management System for Website

Filed Under (General, Internet Business Resource) by kimloon on 16-08-2009

Some years ago, I was approached to be one of the webmasters for a community website. During the first discussion meeting, one requirement for the website was that it must be running on a Content Management System (CMS) engine.

That was the first time I heard of this term, CMS. Luckily, the other webmaster was a well technical knowledgeable in this area. As such, he selected Joomla! as the CMS engine and set it up. Soon, I focused in putting in the content and along the way learnt the rope of using CMS.

From that point onwards, I will put in a CMS of some form for all the websites I managed. I usually put in Wordpress if Blog-based site is sufficient or Joomla! for more complex sites.

There are few good reasons why CMS is a must for modern websites.

Using OpenOffice.org Draw to draw Diagram

Filed Under (How-to Guide, Software Guide) by kimloon on 25-07-2009

Is there any free software out there can be used to create professional looking diagram?

Recently, I need to draw block diagrams for some presentations and reports. I began to explore using the free vector-based diagramming program OpenOffice.org Draw to create such diagrams.

I have used other expensive vector-based diagramming program before. Comparing to these programs, OpenOffice.org Draw produces professional looking diagrams to be pasted in the documents or presentations without the money cost involved.
